What is Craps?

Craps is a popular dice game in which players make bets on the outcome of the rolls. Traditionally, players may play against each other, the bank, or the casino dealer. This game can be traced back through history to the Western game ‘hazard’,  a game which dates back to the crusades. It was brought to the United States in 1805 and was initially rejected because of its unfamiliarity. However, a redesigned game of craps became popular following World War II. It was a popular leisure activity for many military servicemen, and was played in the streets with a blanket as the shooting surface.

Brick and mortar casinos in Europe, Macau, and Australia soon adopted the game in the 1960s. And starting in the 2000s, online craps became available in leading online casinos, which helped boost the game’s global popularity. It’s still a game that’s not too popular online, so there are only a limited amount of game providers that offers the game. One of these game providers are Evolution Gaming.

Rules of the Game

Your objective in online craps is simple: you bet on the outcome of the roll of a pair of standard six-sided dice. Craps is played in rounds, and in traditional casino craps, players place their bets on different parts of the table. Each part of the craps table represents a different bet, and a loss or win is determined by the results of the shooter’s roll.

If you’re the shooter, you need to place a ‘Pass’ or ‘Don’t Pass’ bet. The initial roll is called the ‘Come Out Roll’. If the come-out roll results in a 7 or 11, all bets on the pass line win, and bets on the don’t pass will lose. If the outcome of the roll is a 2, 3, or 12, then your don’t pass wins.

If your roll results in a 4, 5,6, 8, 9, or 10, that number becomes a point. Under the online craps rules, you’ll need to continue to roll until you get a point number or you roll a 7. Rolling a 7 results in a don’t pass line win and the pass line loss. And if you roll a point, the opposite happens. Once you’re out, the next player takes the shooter role and a new round begins.

Popular Online Craps Bets to Play

In online craps, playing the game is made simpler. You log in to the casino’s Game’s Lobby and open a craps game to play. To start the game, simply click on the chip’s value that corresponds to your wager and select your bet on the table. Once you’re ready, simply click the ‘Roll’ button and wait for the results of the virtual roll of the dice.

Speaking of bets, the virtual craps table offers a variety of bets to play. Here’s a list of the most popular bets to consider when you play at Indian online casinos:

Place bet. You bet on rolling the number of your choice before a 7 comes out.

Field bet. Here, you’re netting on the outcome of the next roll.

Pass bet. If you’re looking for a friendly bet to play, consider a pass bet. You are betting on the shooter’s come-out roll. If the shooter rolls a 7 or 8, you win your wager. Aside from its simplicity, it also boasts a friendly house edge that stands at 1.41%.

Don’t pass bet. It’s the opposite of the pass bet and you’re now betting on the shooter losing. You’ll win your bet if the roll of the dice results in a 2 or 3.

Come bet. This works like the pass bet except that you can play this while the round is in progress, or after the point has been established. You win with a roll of 7 or 11.

Don’t come bet. This is the opposite of the come bet and you can also play this while the real money craps round is in progress. You can collect a payout with a roll of 2 or 3.
